🔱 Temple Significance

Thirumanancheri is traditionally associated with the divine marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The presiding deity is Udhvaganathar, also known as Arulvallanathar and Kalyanasundareswarar, while the Goddess is Kokilambal. The temple is particularly renowned among devotees seeking blessings for marriage and family life. The sacred tank is known as Saptha Sagaram.

🏛 Temple History

According to the traditional temple legend, Goddess Uma was born on earth in the form of a cow after incurring Shiva's displeasure. She worshipped Shiva and eventually received liberation from the curse. Lord Shiva appeared at the sacrificial fire conducted by Sage Bharata and married Uma at this sacred place in the form of Kalyanasundara. Because the divine marriage took place here, the place came to be known as Thirumanancheri.
